Palladium is back!

We have some good news: French shoes legendary brand is coming to Canada. Palladium’s history starts in the 20’s: the company from Lyons was manufacturing vulcanized rubber plane tires, lined with a sturdy canvas for the new aviation industry. The technology was then used to make the famous Pampa shoes, which shows how strong they are. We love British designer Neil Barrett’s male leather boots. Look it up…

A Glamorous Partnership

Last July 7th for his Couture show, Jean-Paul Gaultier unveiled two items of his new lingerie collection for La Perla: a satin bra with braces patterns, and a suspender belt for a sensual and sophisticated figure. As a matter of fact, we already love the cone-shaped bra cups, just as in Madonna’s 1990 “Blond Ambition” video clip, the high waist panties, the corsets and bustier in black and powdered shades, so chic, so sensual, so sophisticated…

Out in November 2010.

Daria Werbowy: a Canadian model at the top

Daria Werbowy becomes Yves Saint Laurent’s new ambassador, so has decided Stefano Pilati, the brand’s ready-to-wear art director. After being featured in campaigns for brands such as Lancome, H&M or Isabel Marant, the Canadian top model is this time photographed by duo Ines van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for a 60’s-70’s inspired black and white series, a splendid illustration of next winter’s collection.

The Mysteries of Shanghai…

Or Lady Blue Shanghai: the strange commercial short movie directed by David Lynch for Lady Dior, with the actress and brand’s muse Marion Cotillard as a guest star. This unusual blend gives an audacious movie, far from the luxury industry’s usual clean and classic commercials. A very “Lynchian” world now surrounds Dior’s emblematic handbag. We could expect nothing less from the American director…

Fringed

We love Sara Battaglia’s handbags and evening clutches. One can recognize them at first sight, thanks to their large ultra supple leather fringes, just as on this Mondrian piece, a must-have in your wardrobe. She is definitely a young designer to watch.

Dear Haute-Couture, Fall-Winter 2010-2011,

A Parisian exception in the whole world…

Haute-Couture fashion week just finished in Paris, leaving us once more totally stunned in front of these pieces of art, unique tailored models representing hundreds of hours of work, embroidery, incrustations… The shows are always spectacular productions, just as this Dior’s season “Flower power”, far from the 70’s. John Galliano propels us in a Dior imaginary garden, where rich textured fabrics are cut in massive tulip or petal’s shapes. The ultra-vivid and energizing colours, like this lime, this orange or this iris violet come as a contradiction to next winter’s ready-to-wear camel’s overflow.
This show will take your breath away.

Summer 2011 Men

In black, white or indigo, the 2011 men will be fond of shorts, sandals, exploded printed patterns, jewellery and jackets, this season’s wardrobe master piece, completely revisited. “Less is More” is the slogan to remember.

Close-up on Dior by Kris van Assche:
Designer goes to fashion’s fundamentals for a deconstructed and perfectly mature collection

Close-up on Lanvin by Lucas Ossendrijver:
This collection is a race to creativity and an invitation to travel: magnificent.
