1 – Tida Swinton, fashion icon if any, in a copper color dress signed Haider Ackermann, is absolutely amazing.
2 – Eva Longoria, sheath dress signed Marchesa, wins the prize for elegance.
3 – Diane Kruger surprised us by wearing a veiled dress by Giambattista Valli Couture – but what a glamorous look, very Hollywood!

Chanel Cruise

What a privilege to be part of the 300 hand-picked guests (between Tilda Swinton and Emmanuelle Alt (Vogue France)) … to attend the prestigious Chanel Cruise runway show! We take a seat under one of the “royal” tents, erected in the famous grove of the Three Fountains in the sumptuous gardens of Versailles. Gorgeous surroundings caressed by the sun. With a beating heart, we are waiting…. and there before our very eyes, a futuristic-rock Marie Antoinette in blue washed denim (denim or fake jeans) opens the show. A great mix of genres with those funny crinoline dresses associated with wedge heel Rockabilly sneakers, in gold or silver. Iconic, the famous fitted tweed jacket comes in soft pastel shades, combined with loose pants and divided skirts. This “Ladurée Macarons” style palette then goes to black and white. The show ends majestically over beautiful embroidered and immaculate evening gowns. On the first row, Vanessa Paradis, Tilda Swinton, Ines de la Fressange applaud … “generously” … this royal fashion show! Great Karl Lagerfeld!

Chanel: The Cruise Show

The couture house of the Rue Cambon in Paris was presenting its cruise show 2013 in the gardens of Versailles, this afternoon. We were there! Saint-Tropez, Los Angeles, Venice … the Chanel cruise collections shows each season in a cool location, with a spectacular staging guaranteed every time. This year, it was ROYAL!

It’s been years that the world rises up against too young and too thin models featured on magazines’ covers. Here is a decision that pleases us: Conde Nast International and editors of 19 international editions of Vogue signed The Health Initiative, a pact aimed at encouraging a more healthy body image in the fashion industry. No more models under 16 with signs of anorexia. As a subtitle, it says: beauty begins with a healthy diet. And we say: BRAVO!

It is a little bit like the Oscars, but for new talents in fashion. This year, 3 winners: Siiri Raasakka, Tiia Siren & Elina Laitinen, three Finnish designers who met each other at the Aalto University of Art and Design, in Helsinki. They were rewarded among 10 young international designers for their men’s collection. Their style? Inspired by street wear, an incredible work on materials, hallucinogen prints (handmade by the designers), neon colors, grunge knit fringes, phosphorescent sticks, and even Swarovski crystals embroideries on sneakers, the flagship accessory of the collection. To watch closely!

Jewelers have jumped at the opportunity to decline this sign of harmony and prosperity, this chimeric animal and fantasy: in earrings, necklaces or pendant… Enough to repel the evil eye.

How could one miss this constantly revisited classic, one of the upcoming hits of the season? Impossible! For the record, this is in 1928, in the US, that Schott invented the Perfecto, a thick leather jacket, made to protect riders in case of a fall. It later became the emblem of cute kids and rockers. What does the 2012 version look like? It comes in shades of pastels, sometimes overrun by flowers, or even fancy lace, or in innovating shapes like oversized… So cool, so glamorous, so rock…. so fashion!
