A year, and even a decade are coming to an end… and this is also a time to look back. We will just come back here on a few noticeable fashion events, the ones that made us smile, cry, that touched us or filled us with wonder…

Couture genius Alexander Mc Queen’s death, of course, is one of them…

The success of the Pop Up stores, with this new Chanel one in Courchevel…

The “Balmania”, or French Couture house Balmain this year’s indisputable success story…

Couture’s democratization, with the successful collaboration of luxury houses with retail chains, like the amazing Lanvin collection for H&M…

Or Denis Gagnon’s show at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the first Canadian fashion designer to have his exhibition in a museum…

To be followed…

A few hours before Christmas and New Year’s Eve, a question is haunting us: “what are we going to wear?”, a terrible but very female dilemma, one would say. In a perfect world, we would go for an ultra shapely shoulders Balmain dress:

A futuristic Raphael Young, or Nicholas Kirkwood pair of shoes, to match with thick stocking, that’s a must!

Or:

And of course an ultra chic black YSL evening clutch…

A few last minute gift ideas you should mention to Santa Claus right away. Happy Holidays!

In trendy Kill magazine latest « Extreme Couture » issue. We thought for a long time he could save Haute Couture all by himself with his incredibly coloured and pictorial models, genuine artistic bombs shattering all minimalistic certainty from the 90’s… Christian Lacroix comes back on his fabulous fashion years. Discover right here a few pages from this stunning Carte Blanche, ultra-chic, just like the inimitable designer.

Christian Lacroix: We love you…

Karl Lagerfeld suddenly reveals himself as ecologically responsible, introducing imitation fur for the first time in Chanel history. For sure, Parisian Couture house’s loyal customers already succumbed… We just want to say: “synthetic is fantastic!”.

When the French fashion designer works on contemporary furniture’s design for French company Roche Bobois, that gives marine stripes, red bobbles and pads. The whole sailor’s outfit from the ceiling to the ground. A dozen of pieces, rugs, sofas, armchairs, screens… among which we will recognize a couple of re-editions. We love surprising partnerships like this one!

We are talking here of course of the mythic Pirelli calendar. This year, photographer and designer Karl Lagerfeld is taking the camera for a sculptural black and white issue, evoking mythology, far from 2010 colourful trash Terry Richardson’s. The snapshots unveil American actress Julianne Moore, and 21 international top models, shot nude in a studio in Paris. Divine calendar!

Nothing better than a foretaste of summer to help you fly over the winter… Here is a preview of Spanish brand Pretty Ballerinas next summer’s design. With blue stripes, totally pink – very girly -, or Tokyo “Gyaru” girls inspired yellow, without omitting the classic white, here is what next spring will look like. We have a special crush on these very feminine ballerina-style shoes, made by the Mascaro family since 1918, and adored by the stars. A name? Kate Moss. That says it all…
